The Finn is considered one of the fastest and most experienced rally drivers in the world. At the age of six, the son of a rally driver was already go-karting; he drove a car for the first time at the age of eight. He contested his first rally at 16, and in 2002 he joined the WRC at just 17 years of age. In Sweden in 2008, Latvala celebrated his first stage win in the world championship, becoming the youngest stage winner in the competition’s history. He was runner up in the 2010 season. From 2013, he races in the WRC for Volkswagen with Miikka Anttila. By the third place in his first season and the second place in 2014 Latvala makes a major contribution to the three world titles for the Volkswagen Motorsport team. Jari-Matti did battle with team-mate Sébastien Ogier for the title in 2015 and won three rallies, but was forced to surrender to the Frenchman at the tenth rally in Australia. He will contest his fourth season for Volkswagen in 2016.
