Facts about the host country for the Rally France.
Mon Dieu! Did you know that around ten billion baguettes are sold in France every year? The French like to eat this long, thin bread topped with cheese – of which there are some 1,000 varieties on sale throughout the country.
But there’s more to France than merely culinary delights such as cheese. Take the Eiffel Tower, for example. This iconic Parisian landmark is a real crowd-puller, and to make sure it stays that way the entire structure is given a new coat of paint every seven years. It takes around 60 tonnes of paint to fully paint the tower’s iron frame.
France boasts a fair few famous faces too, of course: Louis de Funès was a box-office hit around the world in the role of a cantankerous gendarme, while Edith Piaf enchanted the world with her voice. And it goes without saying that the nine-time world rally champion Sébastien Loeb deserves a mention here too.
