Timo Gottschalk

At the 2010 Dakar Rally Timo Gottschalk is experiencing his third cross-country rally alongside his driver Nasser Al-Attiyah. A year before, the Berliner made his debut in the Race Touareg at the "Dakar” as Dieter Depping’s co-driver. In 2007 he had competed for Volkswagen in the race truck.

"I look forward to working together with a successful driver who has a lot of international experience,” the German describes the new chapter in his co-driver’s career. His new driver will benefit from the navigator’s wide range of knowledge. As a mechanical engineer and vehicle inspection engineer, Timo Gottschalk, who is a quiet type and acts inconspicuously, has a wealth of technical knowledge and, in addition to his five rally runs, completed numerous test kilometres in the Race Touareg. With Nasser Al-Attiyah he immediately took second place in their first joint run in summer of 2009 at the Rally dos Sertões.

Cars and motorsport have always been part of Gottschalk’s life. During his military service he was a driver, later a garage manager of a motorsport company, a co-driver in sprint rally racing and then a team coordinator. He even established himself in the World Rally Championship, navigating the Austrian Andreas Aigner in the Red Bull Škoda team in 2005 and 2006.
